What is Altro Whiterock?
Altro Whiterock is an extremely versatile high-performance material commonly used for wall cladding as an effective and superior alternative to ceramic tiles. It’s robust, durable, slip resistant and most importantly sterile, making it hygienic and easy to clean.
The surface is made of a PVCu polymer and is extremely strong, and also water resistant. It’s Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) approved, which means that it’s certifiably food safe. It can also withstand temperatures of up to 60 degrees Celsius.
All of these properties make it the perfect material to use for an astonishingly wide range of environments.
In addition to being used as wall cladding, Altro is also available as safety flooring for total sanitation.

It’s the only HACCP-certified PVCu wall sheet in the world. And it’s Conformité Européene (CE) labelled, showing that it meets all the legislative requirements to be sold in the UK. Not only that, but Altro Whiterock hygienic wall cladding also meets all current EU regulations for health and hygiene.
Unlike many other types of wall cladding, Altro Whiterock doesn’t require biocides (substances used to control harmful organisms) to remain sanitary. That makes the surface doubly healthful, as these biocides can often be harmful to human wellbeing and the environment in their own ways, such as through inhalation.
Since Altro Whiterock hygienic wall cladding is fully bonded, grout free and completely watertight, there’s nowhere for harmful organisms to settle and grow. All you need to do is wipe, steam or power wash the surface clean on a regular basis to maintain an excellent standard of cleanliness.
Is Altro Whiterock wall cladding bacteria resistant?
Products containing antimicrobial substances are designed to protect human health. But as with harsh cleaning chemicals, these can often be toxic.
Altro has removed these chemicals from their wall and floor products. After all, they simply don’t need them.
Bacteria needs moisture to flourish. But since Altro Whiterock is impervious and non-porous, bacteria is unable to take root.
